Drawing Ideas for Kids

I have been working with kindergartners a lot this year.  The students are learning to hold pencils and create letters.  For each letter they are learning we play a drawing game and hide the letter.  The kids love finding the letter after the picture is drawn.

Google drawings is a fun and powerful drawing tool. In minutes, any kid can use it to create some cool professional looking artwork! This is a great way to create your own thumbnail drawings or to create your own clip art for projects you may be creating.   Using it can help young artists see how drawings are just a collection of simple shapes put together in interesting ways. In this tutorial, I will take you through the basics of using google drawings to draw the creature below...   My students love the drawing ideas that they get when they use google drawings. You would think that using a digital drawing program would take away from their hand drawn artwork, but I have found the exact opposite. When students see the cool things they can draw with just a few shapes, they use that knowledge when creating their own pencil and paper drawings and doodles. I created this quick, fun drawing tutorial.  Using the same technique, you can get all kinds of cool drawing ideas. There is an amazing World War I story about ships being painted using a technique similar to the trick used in this video.  It may have actually helped to win the war.  I plan on posting the story on this site.

Being stuck here has its down side, I'll probably be eaten soon, but hey, I have a lot of time and paper. I've gotten pretty good at drawing cool things.
