Drawing Ideas from Great Children's Book Illustrators

This is a quick video of Chris Van Allsburg creator of The Polar Express, Jumanji, and other amazing books for children.  In the video, he gives a really cool easy drawing idea that connects to Jumanji.  The idea would be great for a project using the book in art class or the regular classroom.
This is super cool!  Dav Pilkey draws Dog Man and explains it is the first character he created!

Quentin Blake illustrated many of Roald Dahl's books.  He is one of my favorite illustrators.
His drawings are alive and carefree.  He has a very sketchy drawing style that is amazing.

This video is old but it is a good idea for a drawing activity if you are regular classroom teacher.  It is a great artist to watch because he doesn't worry about making mistakes or erasing.

He draws and tells a story on a huge piece of paper.  There are many ways students could do this digitally now, but I love the idea of just using paper and doing it live!  Skip the beginning.

By the way, Quentin Blake has a really cool drawing activity book.  It is a little pricey, but it has some cool drawing ideas in it.

The video below is of Quentin Blake working today.  He has some great thoughts on the process of drawing, but it is not very kid friendly.

If you don't know about the Children's book author David Weisner, every kid should check out his art.  In this video he talks about his creative process and how his drawings lead to writing ideas.
